CocoaFit in 5- How to Gauge your Weightloss

So you have established your weight loss goal, and you are doing the work… how do can you tell if you are making any progress? Try one of these:

1. Ditch the Scale… Measure Instead! That’s right, stop getting on the scale beating yourself up for not losing a pound a day. Guess what?! You won’t! That initial weight loss was probably water and if you weren’t careful… muscle mass. Since muscle and fat weigh the same, but muscle takes up less space- you might not lose as many pounds as you will inches.

2. Make a Soap Outline in Your Mirror. Yeah we said it and we meant it… take a bar of soap and make an outline of your body in the mirror you use the most. Every time you check yourself out, you will see yourself shrinking. We know it may sound nuts, but trust us it works!

3. Ask Your Girls… that never lie to you.  You know the ones, that didn’t let you go out the house lookin’ like a hot mess BEFORE you started gettin’ it together! They will tell you what you’re doing good at… and well… you know… if you’re slippin’. Note: Stay away from the haters that will find a way to nit-pick… they’re just jealous.

4. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words… Keep a photo journal of your progress. Nothing motivates you more than looking at the “new you” unfold before your very eyes. We all rooted for our girl Jennifer Hudson as she fought and won her battle of the bulge with the whole world watching (including us with her pics on our fridge to keep us focused). Cause let’s be real, a friend might stretch the truth, but a picture never lies.

5. Do You LOVE How You Feel? If you ignore everything we just suggested, you can’t/won’t deny your new-found energy! The more you exercise, the more you eat right the better you will feel. You will sleep better, laugh more and we’re pretty sure you’re going to be more fun to be around (just sayin’ you must admit you are a bit cranky when you’re tired).
